Internet users who frequently view YouTube channels are probably familiar with the site's video autoplay feature, as many of the most popular channels include a video that plays immediately upon viewing the page. Unfortunately, for most YouTube uploaders, video autoplay is only available to members of the YouTube Partner program.
The partner program allows you to make money from your channel's page views and includes access to additional features that normal members can't use, including video autoplay. You can apply for the YouTube Partner if you're an experienced video uploader whose videos get thousands of hits.
Instructions
- Verify that you meet YouTube's requirements for becoming a YouTube Partner. To become a partner, you must own the rights to original videos that you upload regularly. Your videos must be viewed by thousands of YouTube users, or you must have proof that you publish commercially viable videos.
- Open your browser and navigate to the YouTube Partners website at www.youtube.com/partners.
- Click the yellow "Apply now" button and sign in with your YouTube user name and password.
- Type your name, date of birth, and country of origin into the Web form under the "Personal information" heading. Type your company, job title, and website address under the "Business information" heading.
- Check the box that corresponds to the industry that you work in under the "Video content" heading. Check the box next to all other methods that you currently use for distributing video content.
- Click the drop down menus to indicate how many videos you have produced, the average length of your videos, and how often you create new videos.
- Check the box next to each reason that indicates why you are interested in joining the YouTube Partners program.
- Type any additional information about your videos or distribution operation in the large text box.
- Check the boxes under "Revenue Sharing" that correspond with how you plan to make money off of your YouTube videos.
- Click the "Review Application" button and click "Submit Application" to complete the YouTube Partner application process. YouTube will contact you at the email address associated with your YouTube account regarding your application status. If you are approved for Partner status then your channel's primary video will automatically be set to autoplay.
